10 Months Young

This sweet girl just gets better and better each day! I love this picture because she is staring at Ramsey with such amazement in her eyes! She will be running around with the boys in no time! We finally got to the doctor for her 9 month appointment (yes, you end up a month late on baby #3)! Eden is measuring: Weight: 18 pounds 4 oz (26th %) Height: 28 inches (48th %) Head: 44 cm (39th %) Eden has 2 teeth on the bottom and I can feel 2 big teeth ready to come in on top! She loves table food... well all food for that matter. She is a busy little thing- follows the boys everywhere. She is a fast crawler but is loving to stand (and she can pop right up now too). She is getting the hang of taking steps while holding my hands. She is such a happy girl, although she wants her mama to hold her whenever she can get her eyes on me!  Eden battled the flu this month, but she was a champ through it all!  Crazy to think her first birthday is right around the corner! Tim and I were talking about how her first year has seemed to go the fastest of all the kiddos. I am trying to hang on to every bit of "baby." In fact, I got so sad folding her clothes this week realizing I won't ever fold clothes this small again 😔 Good thing she enjoys snuggles as much as I do!

This Is Us

Sorry, I won't be referring to the popular TV show "This Is Us." Rather, I’d like to take a minute to document this stage in life... the victories and frustrations. It’s where we are and I want to be able to look back with both admiration that we got through it and a tinge of sadness that it’s over.

Tonight was a victory for me, a victory of the simplest kind. You see, we had a family dinner without any crying, whining, screaming, or trying to “persuade” 3 youngins to eat their dinner.

I literally sat in awe at the conversation we had and the peace in my heart. The boys have really loved a new family tradition we started in August where we share our best part of the day and worst part of the day. We call it “Peaches & Pits” and they never let us forget. As a matter of fact, Ramsey starts planning his the second I pick him up from school. Not only does it give us a glimpse into their day, but they also get to hear about the trials and tribulations of their parents.

We have been working toward this joyous dinner moment forever. Let’s be honest, with 3 little ones there is bound to be someone upset.  I am usually breaking up fights, cleaning up spills, force feeding someone, and trying to foster conversation.  But tonight I reveled in the glory, noticing a new found independence in their growing up.  It felt good, really good. I know Spring sports will be starting up before we know it and evening chaos will ensue, but for now I will celebrate dinner.

Even when time allows- dinner can be stressful. But I am working to focus on the fact that:

These family dinners will hold precious memories for us for years to come.

These dinners will help instill manners in my kids.

These dinners allow us to model and practice our faith through family prayer.

These dinners open lines of communication with my littles.

And these dinners help us remember what’s important- time with family (1 of the boys usually says dinner is their “Peach” every night)!

More “ This Is Us” to come....
